Join the Department of Languages and Cultural Studies and the French Club as they invite you to discover the history of Martinique (French West Indies). Aliker, directed by Guy Deslauriers, details the true story of André Aliker, a communist activist who denounced the links between economical, judicial and colonial powers in the newspaper, Justice, through articles on tax fraud by a rich and powerful family. He was murdered for this. Monique Milia-Marie-Luce, an associate professor in Martinique and Fulbright-Scholar-In-Residence at UNC Charlotte, will discuss the film with the audience.
